Flexible Learning Foundations: Responding and Reimagining Education in the Philippines
With a tripartite agreement of the U.S. Embassy Manila, the Commission of Higher Education Philippines, and the Texas International Education Consortium, this project support the focus on building the capacity of the university-level instructors, faculty and administrators to provide quality professional development to enable successful, engaging and high quality online instruction. Given the enormous challenges facing higher education institutions, and in view of the potential benefits of vibrant and sustainable e-learning programs to provide access to higher education for millions of Filipino students, the overall objective of this proposed project is to contribute to greater accessibility, satisfaction, and learning outcomes in Filipino higher education in the form of high-quality online courses.

Flexible Learning Foundations: Responding and Reimagining Education in the Philippines
To address the immediate needs of faculty who have been charged with designing and delivering flexible learning courses without the prerequisite training and capacity, the TIEC Team will deliver professional development on best practices in flexible teaching and the creation of flexible learning environments. A Flexible Learning Foundations Conference, a series of four synchronous, virtual workshops will build the capacity of 175 faculty across 50 Filipino higher education institutions and 25 CHED officials. Synchronous workshops will offer real-time engagement with colleagues, instructors, and the content. The selection of workshops is based on the Online Learning Consortium’s global standards, a preeminent authority on flexible learning.
